Live Ideas Lecture Series Presents: “British Moral Sentiment and Black Self-Respect: Ida B. Wells on Truth-Telling and Political Action” with Dr. Jennie Ikuta

The Primary Texts Program’s Live Ideas Lecture series will host Dr. Jennie Ikuta (University of Missouri) on Friday, May 1st, 2026.

Please join us in Regnier Forum, Reigner Hall from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM!

Dr. Ikuta’s second book project, White Losses: Moral Psychology and the Demands of Racial Justice (under advance contract, Oxford University Press), employs the thought of Ida B. Wells-Barnett, W.E.B. Du Bois, and James Baldwin – in conjunction with analyses of popular forms of American liberalism and contemporary political theory – to illuminate the psychological transformations required by members of historically dominant groups for the sake of a more egalitarian society.
